Is there a wiring diagram/instructions with the unit? That is a pretty useless website with those fuzzy PDF's but capacity seems to be the main difference, what exactly the R (remote sensing) does and if there is a work around is difficult to determine. Last time I checked all alternators have 3 diodes AFAIK. Surepower told me I needed the "R" type because the Bosch has 3 diodes, but I have a 70amp alt. Easy-peasy! From here, it appears that I just need to shift a few wires around from the external VR of my 74 bus to the Isolator and all should be good no? However, the model number is 1202 (Surepower) and not 1202R, which, according to all I've read, is required for a Bosch alternator. I have a line on a battery isolator at a good price ($30).
