Is there a wiring diagram/instructions with the unit? That is a pretty useless website with those fuzzy PDF's but capacity seems to be the main difference, what exactly the R (remote sensing) does and if there is a work around is difficult to determine. Last time I checked all alternators have 3 diodes AFAIK. Surepower told me I needed the "R" type because the Bosch has 3 diodes, but I have a 70amp alt. Easy-peasy! Over a couple thousand miles and both batteries are still running strong.Ĭool! Sure sounds easy-peasy! I'll give it a shot, thanks! One outside post goes to the starter battery and the other outside post goes to the camping battery. Center post is where the alternator lead attaches. How did you wire your 702? Did you have to muck around with the VR? The 1202 has an 120 amp capacity, much more than I'll ever need. I think the 7 are different only by capacity. That link is for a Vanagon with a different alternator so I don't think the comparison is valid. I'm using model 702 for my Bay window.which is what you should be using as well. The main thing is, if its not a 1202R but a regular 1202, would it fry my alternator/battery? Thanks! How critical is this? From here, it appears that I just need to shift a few wires around from the external VR of my 74 bus to the Isolator and all should be good no? However, the model number is 1202 (Surepower) and not 1202R, which, according to all I've read, is required for a Bosch alternator. I have a line on a battery isolator at a good price ($30).
